Spring has sprung (in most parts of the United States anyway) and in addition to traditional spring cleaning of your home and yard, you should consider spring cleaning in your professional life. Here are a few “spring cleaning” tips:
- Clean your office: Just as you clean your house, you should clean your office every now and then from top to bottom as well. Even if you have a cleaning service, spring is a good time to go through all the drawers and cabinets to trash and reorganize paperwork, etc.
- Clean your business: Are you holding onto clients and leads that are consuming most of your time and energy, much more than necessary? Clean them out and find new ones! It’s just like cleaning the dirt out of an air filter, get all the gunk out so the good stuff can flow.
- Clean your Internet presence: When was the last time you updated your website? When was the last time you made sure your contact information was correct on your LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and MyHomes profiles, etc? Is your picture on those profile sites current? Now would be a good time to update all of your information. If you have multiple e-mail addresses, you should consider forwarding them to the e-mail address you use the most. Consolidating your e-mail saves time and ensures that you won’t lose any because you forgot to check one.
- Clean your listings: Make sure all of your listings are up to date and look appealing. If you or the owners have made any changes to the landscape, take new pictures of it. You want to make sure the listing is as accurate as possible. Buyers don’t like surprises.
It’s important to keep things clean and up-to-date as often as possible so potential clients know exactly what you are about and the simplest ways to get in touch with you.
